Start with design pressure, temperature and the applicable piping code.

• Provide normal, maximum and design pressure.
• Select the pressure class against the material temperature rating.
• Define body, connection and pressure-test requirements.

Review the complete valve assembly

Pressure-containing parts, wetted trim, seats, seals, packing and actuation need to be evaluated together. A material name or pressure class alone is not a complete specification.
